Health & Fitness
On May 12th, 2003 ESPN opened the doors to its new state of the art Health and Fitness Center to all Bristol-based employees. Our mission is simple, "The ESPN Health and Fitness Center is dedicated to provide our members with the convenience by which they can exercise safely, sensibly, consistently, and productively in a secure, clean, positive, and professional environment in an effort to encourage a stress-free work surrounding and promote a healthy lifestyle".

This 5,000 square foot facility provides employee members with the opportunity to utilize a vast selection of both cardiovascular and resistance training equipment, all at no cost. The cardiovascular area is comprised of treadmills, elliptical ARC trainers, stationary bicycles, and arm ergo meters. The resistance training or weight-training area yields new machines from companies such as Cybex and Lifefitness . These machines are on the cutting edge of resistance training technology incorporating bi-angular movements to name just one of the many performance capabilities. In addition, The ESPN Health and Fitness Center has one of the largest selections of free weights know to the corporate fitness world.

If that's not enough, The Center also has an extensive group exercise schedule catering to everyone's individual needs, from low intensity yoga to heart pounding aerobic-based group classes. The Center has also recently acquired twelve new X-Bikes, a state of the art stationary cycle designed to give the rider an overall full body workout in a 30-minute class.

Highly qualified Health and Fitness Specialists staff the Center with a combined education of over 25 years. In addition, each staff member holds national certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. By having such qualified staff, The Center is able to offer detailed fitness assessments to all members, which include body composition analysis, strength and cardiovascular testing, and flexibility examination. Based on these assessment parameters, the staff can then design a training program specific to the members' needs and goals.

A recent addition to the many services already offered by the Health and Fitness Center is an Occupational Nurse. In Partnership with Bristol Hospital the Health Center's Occupational Nurse functions in various roles including the delivery and administration of vaccines, providing CPR / AED classes for employees, and managing short-term disability.
